Introduction to Working Equitation Clinic with Amy Star
This clinic will offer riders an introduction to the exciting sport of Working Equitation. Riders of all levels are welcome, all breeds and styles of tack are welcome. Amy will teach you how many of the various obstacles are performed and how the sport is based in traditional horsemanship. You will learn some of the strategies involved in the competition and gain an understanding of the judging criteria. 1.5 hours of riding, practicing obstacles and maneuvers. Then an opportunity to ride a course.
Introductory presentation to all attendees - riders and auditors - about the sport of Working Equitation.
Riders will be in groups of 3-4 with the focus being on obstacles.
*Riders attending both days will be group together on the second day and will work on competition strategies and how to ride the navigation lines.
Clinician: Amy Star is a licensed Working Equitation judge and technical delegate in the USA and Canada. She has trained 5 horses up through the levels and currently has 4 competing in working equitation in L2, L3, L6 and L7. Amy Star was the Chef d' Equipe for the USAWE Youth World Championships USA Team in Portugal in 2023, and competed internationally in 2018 in Brazil to win the Silver Medal in both Individual and Team competitions. Amy can give riders an understanding of the judges perspective, share training techniques and provide competition strategies to riders of all levels.
